Looking beyond the Schema: the role of the adult in supporting children's learning in free flow play

Thursday 9th March 2017 (10.00am - 16.00pm)

Trainers: Dr John Siraj-Blatchford and Lynnette brock

This one day workshop introduces an entirely new approach to the presentation of Play in early years' teacher education. The model has been tested in a variety of in-service and preservice training contexts. It is grounded in the most robust contemporary research, in recent developments in the ecology of child development, embodied cognition and neuroscience. Participants will be provided with training resources that have been developed to support early years’ educators understanding of their role in providing emotional scaffolding, and in ’seeding’ children’s learning in free-flow play. The course will include presentations, practical activities and open discussion. The resources provided will include PowerPoint, poster.pdf and video exemplar materials.
